Job Description

About the role and about you 

As a Housing Pathways Officer, you are the first point of contact and will provide responsive support to people seeking social housing assistance, ensuring they understand and can access appropriate housing options. You will assess housing applications, allocate social housing properties, and work closely with applicants, tenants, support services and stakeholders to deliver fair and timely housing outcomes. You will report to the Lead, Housing Pathways and collaborate across internal teams and external partners to support vulnerable customers.

To succeed in this role, you will have strong customer service skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse and vulnerable stakeholders, and the ability to manage a high-volume workload while applying policies accurately.

This is a permanent, part- time position (9am to 5pm, 3 days per week in the office – preference of Monday to Wednesday, or as agreed during candidate discussions), based at our St Leonards office, with travel to other SGCH offices as required.

Duties  

  • Assess applications for housing assistance in line with Housing Pathways policies
  • Allocate social housing properties fairly and within required timeframes

  • Provide customer-centered support and advice to applicants and tenants

  • Engage with stakeholders and support services to facilitate appropriate housing outcomes

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge and understanding of NSW Government's Housing Pathways, and specialist homelessness systems and policies. Current NSW Drivers license and willingness to travel to all SGCH offices as required. 
  • Experience of providing services to, and working with, people from diverse backgrounds, disadvantage and vulnerability.

  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, organisational and time management, prioritising and planning, problem solving, communication and MS Office suite 

  • Ability to work with a business acumen and a social heart with self-motivation, compassion and resilience to manage competing priorities, deadlines and multiple stakeholders, to continuously improve, and deliver the best outcomes for the business and customers.
